What Does It Mean to BE GREATER?

Issue 001 · Grow · 3 min read

There is a question I’ve been asking myself more often lately. Not where do I want to be five years from now. Not how much money do I want to make.

Not what project I should build next. The question is much simpler than that: Who am I becoming?

It’s a question that cuts through the noise. It bypasses the metrics, the milestones, and the comparisons that so often distract us from what really matters. Because if we’re honest, most of us spend a lot of time focused on outcomes.

We want the promotion. The bigger opportunity. The successful business. The healthier body. The stronger relationship. The finished project. The recognition.

None of those things are inherently bad. In fact, many of them are worthwhile goals. The problem begins when those outcomes become the only way we measure progress. We start comparing our lives to the lives of other people.

Every day we’re exposed to someone’s accomplishment, someone’s announcement, someone’s breakthrough, someone’s highlight reel. Before we realize it, we stop paying attention to our own journey and begin measuring our progress against someone else’s timeline.

The result is often frustration, discouragement, and impatience. The feeling that we’re somehow behind. But behind whom?

Life isn’t a race against the people around us. The most important comparison we’ll ever make is between who we are today and who we were yesterday. That belief sits at the heart of BE GREATER.

When I say BE GREATER, I’m not talking about becoming greater than someone else. I’m talking about becoming more of who you’re capable of being.

For some people, that may mean becoming healthier. For others, it may mean becoming more disciplined, more courageous, more patient, more intentional, or more connected to their purpose.

The destination looks different for everyone because every person is carrying a different story, a different set of responsibilities, and a different calling. What remains the same is the commitment to growth.

I’ve learned that meaningful growth rarely happens through dramatic breakthroughs. Most of the time it happens quietly. It happens in the choices nobody sees.

The page you read before work. The walk you take when you’d rather stay on the couch. The prayer you say when no one else is listening.

The promise you keep to yourself. The difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding. The project you finally decide to finish.

Individually, these actions don’t seem significant. But over time they begin to shape your habits, your confidence, your character, and ultimately your future. Most of us already know what we should be doing.

We know we should spend more time with the people we love. We know we should move our bodies. We know we should invest in our growth.

We know we should create more than we consume. The challenge isn’t information. The challenge is consistency.

That’s why I created BE GREATER. Not as a slogan. Not as a brand.

Not as a collection of products. But as a reminder. A reminder that growth is available every day.

A reminder that perfection is not required. A reminder that becoming greater isn’t something you achieve once and move on from. It’s something you choose repeatedly.

Every day presents an opportunity. An opportunity to become a little more disciplined. A little more grateful.

A little more courageous. A little more intentional. A little more aligned with the person you’re trying to become.

The good news is that you don’t have to change your entire life overnight. You don’t need a perfect plan. You don’t need perfect circumstances.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You simply need to take the next step. Then take another.

Then another. Because becoming greater isn’t a destination. It’s a practice.

It’s a decision. And it’s available to all of us today.

Reflection

What area of your life is asking for growth right now? Not next year. Not next month. This week.

Journal Prompt

If I committed to becoming 1% greater this week, what is one action I could repeat every day that would move me closer to the person I want to become?

Write it down.

Keep it simple.

Commit to it for the next seven days.

“The most important comparison you’ll ever make is between who you are today and who you were yesterday.”

Bailey Ellis

Growth doesn’t happen all at once. It happens one decision at a time. One habit at a time. One choice at a time. One day at a time.

BE GREATER.
